Deborah Ehlers - Select Training and Management Consultancy LLC

Originally from South Africa, Deborah is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant, a finance specialist and an experienced trainer. She holds a B.Com (Hons) in Accounting Sciences from University of Pretoria, a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting from University of South Africa and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Her strong finance background coupled with a Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), and her wide experience in financial analysis, soft skills training and consulting, ensure she brings a wealth of expertise to the training room.

Deborah worked as a Senior Accountant in one of the world’s leading independent assurance and advisory firms, performing an overall project management function, including planning, execution and reporting on projects and audits. She was in-charge of statutory audits for companies in various industries including the motor, healthcare, legal, real estate and retail industries, and was responsible for the audit of critical audit objectives including Revenue, Inventory, Provisions, Financial Instruments, Payables, Payroll, Assets and Taxation. Deborah later on became the Head of the Employee Committee, where her key responsibilities included the planning, coordination and supervision of new joiner, on-boarding induction and training along with conducting on the job training sessions to enhance existing employees’ performance and introduce them to new sets of skills. She also became a member of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee (CSR) that focused on community upliftment projects for underprivileged communities.

She later on moved to a furniture logistics and distribution company as a Special Accountant, where she set-up the accounting process for customer claims and the related provisions resulting in cost savings for the company and increased efficiency. She developed a strategy to assist the company in obtaining quality certification and drawing up policies to promote equality in the workplace and develop core skills and competencies in employees to enable them to take on future senior management roles. While performing this task, Deborah found her passion in developing individuals.

Deborah then moved to the UAE and started her training and teaching career; her reputation and credibility in the corporate world has been built upon by her appreciation of different personalities and business environments together with her high levels of adaptability and drive. Her training sessions are full of practical tips and techniques which ensure all delegates understand what is needed to apply the concepts in the workplace.

Deborah delivers a wide range of courses in Team Building, Communication, Self-Leadership, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Stress Management and Business Writing. She also used her academic and professional background to deliver Financial Management Courses such as Financial Awareness, Basic Accounting, Cash Flow Management and Financial Analysis, Effective Budgeting and Cost Control, Writing Financial Reports, Inventory Management and Logistics.
