WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE COURSE

  • Anyone with little or no prior knowledge of Arabic
  • This level is suitable for learners who have studied the Arabic alphabet and know nothing or very little beyond this.
  • Expatriates, corporate companies, hotels, hospitals, doctors, groups, banks, universities, schools and individuals as it is the base and foundation for any conversational Arabic course

  • Conjugation of verbs in present tense (introduction) GGR2
  • Countries
  • What is your nationality?
  • Where did or do you come from?
  • Feminine nouns
  • Application of GGR with feminine nouns

  • Structures (going to and coming from)
  • Self-introduction, describe people and feelings, express their feelings in one word

CULTURE TOPICS

  • Importance of the guest in Arab cultures
  • Importance of the smile in Arabic cultures
  • Where ahlan wa sahlan comes from
  • Concept of the smile in islam, warm meeting , receiving , respect and the value of the guests in arabic culture
  • Comparing the concepts of guest and neighbour in Arabic and western cultures
  • Brief idea about the history of arabs before islam (their life, thinking, believes, regime)
  • Why always the answer of the greeting is always higher than the greeting itself

ASSESSMENT

Students will be assessed in their ability to apply the language skills taught in this subject through informal tasks set by the teacher during the course. There will also be two formal assessment tasks for this course as follows:
1. Weekly progress assessment 40%
2. Final assessment: oral exam 60%
