Overview

SELECT Training’s CAP® (Certified Administrative Professional) Exam Preparation Course aims to provide the delegates with an overview and understanding of the benefits of earning and maintaining this certification, its requirements and exam format. The course will explore the content of the CAP Body of Knowledge and strategies to help them pass the exam.

Objectives

  • Gain an overview of the IAAP – CAP® (Certified Administrative Professional), the benefits of earning the CAP® credentials and eligibility requirements
  • Identify core resources that would help delegates prepare further for the exam
  • Explore the CAP BOK (Body of Knowledge), its domains and performance outcomes amount and what percentage of content is covered on the exam
  • Understand the fifth domain of the CAP body of knowledge – event and project management and it’s performance outcomes:
    • Demonstrate knowledge of basic terminology associated with meeting and event management
    • Demonstrate proficiency in travel preparation
    • Describe the key requirements for meetings both in person and virtual
    • Demonstrate knowledge in prioritising and delegating elements of a project from planning to implementation
    • Describe the steps required in organising, planning and managing a project

Day one

Introduction to IAAP – CAP® (Certified Administrative Professional)

PO 1: Demonstrate knowledge of basic terminology associated with meeting and event management.
  • Identify the necessary elements in planning events ranging from internal meetings to external conferences
PO 2: Demonstrate proficiency in travel preparation.
  • Describe the necessary elements for planning and organising travel, both domestically and internationally
PO 3: Describe the key requirements for meetings both in person and virtual.
  • Describe the steps required in the organisation and planning of professional meetings
  • Exhibit knowledge of which software applications are appropriate for online meetings

Day Two

PO 4: Demonstrate knowledge in prioritising and delegating elements of a project from planning to implementation.
  • Identify and describe the important techniques of time management from the planning stage to the implementation of a project
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and evaluate the skills and competencies of others for project delegation
PO 5: Describe the steps required in organising, planning, and managing a project.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in prioritising and organising work tasks
  • Identify which software and technology tools are appropriate for managing a project
  • Demonstrate knowledge of negotiating, budget review and bill explanation when organising a project

METHODOLOGY OF TRAINING

1. Certification eligibility
  • No college degree – 4 years of relevant work experience is required
  • Associate degree – 3 years of relevant work experience is required
  • Bachelors’ degree – 2 years of relevant work experience is required
2. Exam overview
  • A written 300-multiple-choice format
  • Approximately 3½ hours to complete
  • Delivered via assessment system’s approved computerised testing centres
  • Based on the CAP Body of Knowledge
3. Re-certification requirements
  • Three-year recertification cycle
  • Maintain professional development points through:
